With the ice hockey season started and 2 weddings (not mine!) this month, time has yet again been an issue but we are plodding on. Finaly built the BCD mag forks with the new stanchions and seals, are looking mighty fine. These have been painted in matt black (See pictures) as all the comp shop stuff was. Not sure how long the paint will stay on once it's been round a track a few times though! Decided to halt all work on SG engine and put all effort into EE enging. I have everything i need now bar the ignition so i just need to find a day spare to get into the shed for a day, cross my fingers, and bolt it all up. I still need an 21" alloy (Akront?) 40 hole front rim. If anyone has one, tap me up. I can't find my hone or piston ring compresser (not used them for many years) so looks like i will have to buy them as well. Another note to make is that the snapped SG engine stator mount has been repaired and now requires drilling and tapping. When i get back to working on this engine i will need to find a good small cheap local engineering shop in hampshire/west berks as i don't fancy buggering this up and PES though good, is just a little too far to go. Know anyone?

With the holidays over it's now time to start working on the bike again. Popham was crap. There were no stalls and hardly any trade. Those that were selling wanted way over the odds. On the other hand, i went to the Netley Marsh Eurojumble and spent all day there. If only i had unlimited funds! I Finaly got around to rebuilding the gearbox in EE only to find i have a bent mainshaft. I picked a B25 one up at Netley for £20 in perfect condition. The only thing different i can see would be the Kick start Mech and this will now have to be the opposite way round. At netley i also picked up a new pair of B50 hard chrome stanchions to fit with the BCD Mag fork bottoms, 2 perfect gear change quadrants, carb bits and bobs and a pair of NJB expert scrambles shocks. There should have been more trade stands though as i wanted to pick up an electronic ignition system.

With holidays and such happening this month, not too much has been done. Rear shocks have been cleaned up and were found to be Koni units and in good condition so going to use them and hopefully the seals wont blow. Bought an Ariel frame for another project (see Projects page). Off to Popham bike meet Sunday 22nd to hopefully find gasket kits, oil seals, engine bolts and anything else that might be handy. I have also planned a trip to the EUROJUMBLE at Netley Marsh next month. I have found a new tig welder who works in the aerospace industry so the rickman front brake plate has been repaired and next on the list is to get The SG engine stator mount done. I will have to drill and tap it myself though. The rear wheel has been built with stainless spokes from Central wheel components(see wheel page for photos). The quality of spokes was very good so would i recommend them. For the front, I would love to find a 40 hole 21 inch high tensile rim to match (Non chrome). If anyone has one or know's where i can find one, please let me know.

I have been painting the works 'mag' wheel hubs with matt black paint and some also done some Yellow paintwork on the fuel tank.
The footrest fabrcations have been started.
Still no news on the engine welding, which is a pain as it's been in the shop since May and it's getting to the point where i need it so i can build the bike around it.
Still need a local Tig welder for the rickman hub. My brother can do it at work, but he's a 2 hour drive away!
I Went to the Brit Bike Bonanza with my dad and two sons to watch some classic scrambling and to check out the pits for some more ideas. Looks like no two bikes are alike!
Rear 'Mag' wheel needs 10 spokes to replace broken ones. Quote was £18 (Central wheel components) but with a full set of 40 stainless spokes of costing £55, i might as well have the full set.
Gearbox internals have been bought (Fleebay) to replace broken cogs in original engine
Bought a B44 exhaust (Fleebay) to find it's a 1 3/4 inch when it arrives. I have been after a pipe this size for ages and for £20 it was perfect. Need to find a silencer to fit now.
Fuel tank fully painted now and we done in the style of the b44 victor tank. Very happy with the result and just needs stickers to finish. Full set of stainless spokes ordered to rebuild the rear wheel and also started rebuilding the gearbox on EE engine
School holiday time so i have a strict budget now with the family wanting to do stuff.
Tank finished
Spokes recieved so rear wheel rebuild started
JG engine picked up from PES, cracked have been welded but stator mount not done. I took valves out to check and valves and seats look in top condition, barely used. Piston top was full of sludge but we think this is because oil was put into the plug hole before storage. Wiped this off with a rag and found some slight pitting but nothing to worry about. Mark said the barrell internaly, was the best condition comp shop unit he had seen and has never been worked on! I will get some pics taken and post on the JG engine page.

The story so far..........
Top and bottom yoke bushes made so the front forks have now been fitted, but found i had to turn the bottom yoke upside so i didn't have to make any frame mods for the steering stops. I could make a plate for the top of yoke but the number board should hide most of it.
The rickman wheel fits perfectly but the brake plate needs Tig welding as the stop has been cut off!
BSA rear magnesium 'works' wheel has been stripped and is ready for painting.
New brake cam lever and rod ordered as the old one was missing.
18 inch rim painted in hammerite silver.
BSA front 20" magnesium 'works' wheel has been stripped. Need to order a 21" rim and spokes to complete
BSA magnesium works forks have been stripped and will need new stancions
Engine taken to Mark Cook to weld cracks in casing
